Titanium concentrate is used to make high titanium slag, titanium dioxide, acid slag, titanium tetrachloride, sponge titanium.
Titanium has high strength, and the tensile strength of pure titanium can reach up to 180 kg/mm2. The strength of some steels is higher than that of titanium alloys, but the specific strength (ratio of tensile strength and density) of titanium alloys exceeds that of high-quality steels. Titanium alloys have good heat resistance, low temperature toughness and fracture toughness, so they are mostly used as aircraft engine parts and rocket and missile structural parts. Titanium alloys can also be used as fuel and oxidant storage tanks and high-pressure containers. Today, titanium alloys have been used to manufacture automatic rifles, mortar seat plates and recoilless guns. In the petroleum industry, it is mainly used for various vessels, reactors, heat exchangers, distillation towers, pipes, pumps and valves. Titanium can be used as a condenser for electrodes and power plants, and as an environmental pollution control device. Titanium-nickel shape memory alloy has been widely used in instrumentation. In medical treatment, titanium can be used as artificial bones and various appliances. Titanium is also a deoxidizer for steelmaking and a component of stainless steel and alloy steel. Titanium dioxide is a good raw material for pigments and paints. Titanium carbide and titanium (hydrogen) titanium are new types of hard alloy materials. Titanium nitride has a color close to gold and is widely used in decoration.
